Company to Relocate Operations One Year After Acquiring Facility

The transition will impact approximately 340 workers.

Flow management solutions provider ASC Engineered Solutions announced that it wants to sell a Pennsylvania facility that it acquired less than a year ago and relocate operations to the other side of the state.

In February 2024, ASC revealed its acquisition of pipe joining component maker Ward Manufacturing. At the time of the deal, ASC CEO Jason Hild said the move strengthened the company’s core portfolio by allowing it to offer the WARDFlex corrugated stainless steel tubing system to its customers.

The acquisition included Ward’s factory in Blossburg, Pennsylvania. However, the Elmira Star-Gazette reported that ASC intends to sell the Blossburg foundry and facilities and gradually shift operations to an existing factory in Columbia, Pennsylvania.

ASC stated that the move would enable it to better serve its customers and to grow its presence in Pennsylvania and the U.S.

The transition will impact approximately 340 workers in Blossburg, the Star-Gazette reported. ASC said it would offer the affected employees comprehensive separation packages and relocation opportunities.

Reports noted that state Rep. Clint Owlett mentioned he had engaged in conversations with local officials and ASC regarding the next steps for the Blossburg site, including efforts to keep it open. According to television station WENY News, Owlett said officials might consider tax incentives and other resources at the state level in the event of a sale.

ACS’s announcement did not include any potential buyers for the Blossburg factory or a specific closing date.
