Nintendo to Help Build World's Largest Donkey Kong Arcade Machine

It will be 370% larger than the original machine.

The Strong National Museum of Play, with some help from Nintendo, will construct the “world’s largest” playable Donkey Kong arcade machine.

The arcade cabinet will be nearly 20 feet tall and approximately 370% larger than the original Donkey Kong machine.

It could set a new Guinness World Record for largest arcade machine, currently held by a 16-foot-tall Tetris cabinet unveiled in 2021.

The Strong said the cabinet will be constructed from an aluminum frame with MDF fiberboard.

It will feature a pedestal beneath the screen that includes a control panel with a replica of the original joystick and buttons for players.

It will run on a motherboard from an original Donkey Kong cabinet, “mirroring the original gameplay and experience as closely as possible.

The Strong said it expects to finish building the Donkey Kong machine this spring and have it ready to go by June 30, 2023.
