Northrop Grumman this week marked the opening of a new manufacturing facility, East Gate 3, at its Layton, Utah, campus.
Several facilities totaling approximately 845,000 square feet will add manufacturing capacity for next-generation aircraft, supporting production acceleration of the B-21 Raider program.
The East Gate 3 facility, which the company said was completed ahead of schedule, expands its manufacturing footprint between Clearfield and Layton, Utah, to more than two million square feet, contributing to the company’s more than 30 million square feet of manufacturing space.
Currently in production with final assembly at Northrop Grumman’s Palmdale, California, facility and other manufacturing operations across the United States, the first B-21 aircraft is on track to arrive at Ellsworth Air Force Base in 2027.
The company said an all-American team of more than 8,000 industry and Air Force personnel are designing, building and testing the B-21. The team consists of more than 400 suppliers across 40 states.
