On April 20, 2022, OSHA renewed Raytheon's 'star level' designation for workplace safety at the company's headquarters in Waltham, Massachusetts. The recognition is part of the agency's Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP).

Raytheon has some 350 employees at the Waltham site who perform office functions, provide technical expertise, conduct shipping and receiving and ensure facility operations.

In 20178, OSHA first recognized Raytheon as a "star" site, which is the highest level the agency’s VPP offers. The latest VPP star renewal follows an onsite evaluation in January 2022 by a team of OSHA safety and health experts.

VPP recognizes and promotes effective worksite-based safety and health management systems. In the VPP, management, labor and OSHA establish cooperative relationships at workplaces that have implemented comprehensive safety and health management systems.

Approval into VPP is OSHA’s official recognition of the outstanding efforts of employers and employees who have created exemplary worksite safety and health management systems.
