Phase 1 submissions are due Dec. 20 at 8PM ET. The CTE CHIPS Challenge is a $1M prize competition sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education. This multi-phase federal open innovation prize competition aims to expand student recruitment, training, and placement strategies in semiconductor fabrication (fab) construction and advanced manufacturing careers.

The CTE CHIPS Challenge supports the CHIPS and Science Act (CHIPS). CHIPS invests in building America’s manufacturing capacity of semiconductors, including research, workforce development, incentives, and tax credits to broaden global competitiveness.

Through this Challenge, the Department invites educators to submit innovative action plans to increase students’ opportunities to develop skills and experiences that better prepare them for the careers aligned with CHIPS; expand student recruitment, training, and placement strategies in these careers; and support teachers in building out career and technical education (CTE) programs.

Semi-finalists and finalists will be eligible to receive targeted technical assistance, opportunities to learn from subject experts, access to peer networks, recognition on a national scale, and a portion of a $1 million prize pool.

By participating in the CTE CHIPS Challenge, semi-finalist and finalist educators will help their students experience opportunities to learn about CHIPS-aligned careers and advance skills to support their pursuit of jobs in these in-demand fields.

CTE CHIPS Challenge Phase 1 submissions are due Dec. 20, 2024, at 8PM ET.
