LEPAS, the premium NEV brand of Chinese automaker Chery Auto, unveiled its concept car, AURA, at Global Elegance Night during the inaugural LEPAS Global concept car combines distinctive proportions, flowing surfaces and lighting with a new design identity and opportunities for personalization.
The design team studied how a leopard shifts its weight and holds tension in its muscles, whether resting, stalking or running. This inspiration carried over into AURA's long wheelbase, short overhangs, wide stance and pronounced shoulder lines.
AURA also retains LEPAS' porcelain-inspired design, combining sculpted volumes and flowing surfaces with a glossy finish that accentuates the car's form. This interplay of surface tension and fluid lines gives its wide stance both strength and refinement. Integrated air channels also follow the contours of the body.
The new front fascia brings together the rounded grille and side intake areas of the original design into a single, clean black surface. Its signature Leopard headlamps, inspired by the eyes of the leopard, give LEPAS a distinctive and recognizable look. Both the new front fascia and this lighting signature will carry through to future LEPAS models.
Beyond establishing a new design identity, the front fascia also opens up possibilities for personalization. AURA explored how graphics, lighting and animations on the front screen can reflect different styles and moods, while an elliptical rear screen allows for personalized taillight displays. The car retains a recognizable LEPAS silhouette, with adaptable lighting and graphics giving users room to express their individuality.
AURA's three colors draw inspiration from natural landscapes at different times of day. Dawn Pearl is inspired by sunrise in Tahiti. Inspired by the midday waters of Bacalar Lagoon, Bacalar Blue shifts between deep blue and clear turquoise. Provence Twilight captures the lavender fields at sunset, with deepening blue-violet tones.
