Protective Fabrics Facility Destroyed in Fire

The facility produced body armor, ballistic vests, protective clothing and flak jackets.

A fire broke out at a protective fabrics manufacturing plant in Spring Hope, North Carolina.

According to officials, the blaze began at JHRG Manufacturing around 11:30 p.m. on a Saturday.

Although several agencies gained control of the fire, walls crumbled and officials said the fire destroyed the building.

JHRG makes body armor, ballistic vests and protective clothing and has produced flak jackets for the U.S. military.

Video shows massive smoke clouds and flames consuming the facility.

According to an owner of the business, the building was closed for the weekend and no one was inside.

The Nash County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
