Renesas Electronics Corporation
Renesas Electronics Corporation (Milpitas, CA) introduced the GaN-based Half-Wave LLC (HWLLC) platform for IoT, industrial and infrastructure power systems. The HWLLC platform is designed for ultra-high power density and peak efficiency up to 500W and can be used in e-bikes, power tools, high-speed chargers, medical devices and industrial lighting.
The GaN-based HWLLC platform provides an ultra-efficient AC/DC power conversion and adapter solution for variable-load charging systems using the USB Power Delivery (USB PD) / Extended Power Range (EPR) standard.
Features:
- Scales ultra-efficient, compact architecture from 100W up to 500W, allowing for wide output range (5V to 48V) while reducing operating temperatures
- Achieves density of 3W/cc and peak efficiency of 96.5%
- Employs robust cascode configuration with higher threshold voltage
- Built on proprietary ZSP technology to ensure ultra-low standby power consumption
- RRW11011 combo controller uses phase-shift control to cancel ripple
- Complies with USB Extended Power Range (EPR) up to 240W
- Suitable for high-speed charging for e-mobility, gaming laptops, professional power tools, vacuums and high-performance monitors
